PROGRAM NOTE
We trumpet players are often infamous for our abnormally large egos, and why shouldn't we be? We are playing the trumpet after all, right? This is the “scepter of God” I'm holding in my hand, right?! Ha ha. This piece offers a lighthearted contrast to some of the unhealthy, stuffy seriousness in our art. Let's eat a little humble pie together. Seen from another perspective, our craft could be summarized as working with wet, metal pipes all day long. Yep. We are all basically just plumbers. Ah, now maybe we are seeing ourselves rightly! The feel of Chunk of Plumbing is that of an old, retro video game never invented, where an Italian plumber trumpet player has to rescue the beautiful princess... he he he. |
