Player Two Press Start (Band and audio track)
CONSORTIUM COMMISSION OPPORTUNITY!
Standard Concert Band and audio track Grade 2 3-4 minutes Sequel to Benjamin Taylor's tremendously popular work: Player One Press Start Completed and delivered as PDF score and parts to all consortium members by April 1, 2024. Consortium Buy-in price = $200 Deadline to join consortium is April 1, 2024 |
How will this piece be different from Player One Press Start?
Whereas Player 1 was focused on retro video games with old-school soundtracks of blips and bloops, Player 2 will take it's inspiration from current video game music which is characterized by full, lush orchestral scoring often with edgy, electronic percussion samples and other "found sound" based sound design. Essentially, this piece will be a quasi modern video game soundtrack with an epic, sweeping, full sound palette in both the concert band and audio track. It is my goal to create an original work that "feels" like it is the title track to the next big video game - something that students and audiences alike will be able to connect with on a visceral level.
Even though it is a sequel, we decided to have this work actually be easier than Player 1, which was a grade 2.5 due to some tricky cut time sections. With Player Two Press Start I'm aiming for a grade 2 difficulty level to make the piece accessible to more programs. |
