Program Note
I do not fall into the category of what might traditionally be considered "Jewish heritage." I am not a practicing Jew. In fact, I am a devout Christian. Family genealogy and family history are very important to me and I know I am a descendant of the house of Jacob through Ephraim and thus I come from a strong Jewish heritage. However, I was raised in a Christian faith tradition by my parents. Even so, I feel grateful for my Jewish roots and have enjoyed connecting with that part of my family’s ancestry through this project. For me, Towards The Stars represents more than the shared religious symbol of a star; the star of David as a symbol of Judaism and the star of Bethlehem for Christ's birth. This work represents all of our interconnectedness regardless of religious tradition, background, culture, race, or any other divisive issue. God's arms are big enough to encircle us all. We are all His children. I think we actually have much more in common than we do that separates us. May this music bring you peace and joy as you seek greater connection to God and those around you.
